Disney Cruise Line has been recognized as the No. 1 cruise experience at the Annual Readers’ Choice Awards for Condé Nast Traveler magazine in New York City.

Known as the leader in family cruising, Disney Cruise Line took the top honors in the Mega-Ship category, which is part of the magazine’s annual readers’ survey that recognizes the best in travel for resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies.

Samantha Brown, renowned travel expert and television host on The Travel Channel, presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz at the awards gala in New York City.

The accolade comes on the heels of an honor by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, which recently named Disney Cruise Line the Top Family-Friendly Large-Ship Cruise Line in the 2010 World’s Best Awards poll.

On the heels of last week’s release of PixieTimes, our web-app for park hours at the Walt Disney World Resort, we are set to release another new web-app; PixieResorts. PixieResorts offers information about your favorite hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort, here in Central Florida.

With PixieResorts you can find out the locations, rates and list of amenities offered at the wide variety of hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort. So point your iPhone, or favorite web-enabled browser, to PixieResorts to check up on the resorts at WDW.

Airline Fees

The New York Times has a great article on the recent spate of fee-overkill in today’s airline industry. From the increased ticketing fees industry-wide to the ridiculous carry-on fees imposed by Spirit Air, these increases are getting the notice of not just the public; the House Subcommittee on Aviation and the Department of Transportation are both considering rules to insure these fees are properly disclosed to the traveling public.

Although many of these airline ticket fees are hidden in the normal course of purchasing a ticket FareCompare has a great table showing the breadth of these fees and surcharges that have become the bread and butter of the airline industry.

There seemed to be no good mobile solutions, that’s quick and easy, to find out the park hours for all the fun at the Walt Disney World Resort so we stepped up to the plate and created PixieTime.

PixiePins.com offers you an easy way to check out the park hours for all of the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort, near Orlando, FL. Point your iPhone to this site for the latest information on park hours; you can even add it to your home screen and run it as a full-fledged web app.

The hours include times for: The Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom as well as Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.  All times are subject to change at the discretion of the Walt Disney Co.

PixieKingdom HD

With the introduction of Apple’s iPad, the mobile computing world was again set on its ear. Operating with the same system as the iPhone, the iPad can run the same applications, but provides greater options to us developers due to its increased screen size.

To take advantage of the new screen size, as well as the new functionalities offered with the iPad, we have completely rewritten PixieKingdom which is now available for sale on the iTunes App Store.

From a bigger map, thanks to the iPad’s enhanced screen resolution, to detailed pop-ups with more information about the park, PixieKingdom HD offers a comprehensive look at the park.

PixieKingdom HD allows you the quickest and easiest way to review the rides and attractions at the Magic Kingdom, at Walt Disney World Resort, so you can plan your day while on holiday.

We have taken some time to implement a major update to PixieKingdom. We will continue to refine, enhance and expand all of our applications and welcome your feedback on the software. This version, however, includes numerous enhancements including:
